Neuschwanstein

The schwan in Neuschwanstein means swan. There were swans all over the inside of the castle (again, no pictures allowed). They even had a porcelain swan humidifier...

King Ludwig started building Neuschwanstein shortly before he was declared crazy (for spending too much money on castles) and died. Only 1/3 of the planned castle was actually built.

Alpsee, waterfalls, nature, etc

Really clear water

Looking down from bridge

This is the bridge I got the good pictures of Neuschwanstein from.

Not sure what these are (or were...I think they're dead) but they were everywhere and I thought they looked kind of silvery...

It was a long hike up and down, and my legs are pretty sore. These are just random pictures taken while walking. The Alpsee was really pretty with the mountains behind it.

Hohenschwangau

This is the castle that king Ludwig grew up in. It's in the valley by the Alpsee. Pictures weren't allowed from inside. The pictures of the castle from far away were taken from Newschwanstein castle. Click on them for a larger picture.

Fall

I wanted to walk around the Danube and the old town today, but I ran out of time. Maybe tomorrow....
